The Home Hammer

Happy New Year! Like so many, I’m caught up in the annual ritual of the New Year and of course making resolutions. All sorts of them are out there, eat healthy, work out, lose weight, read more professional publications – or specific ones like I have, potty train our dog, watch more of my daughter’s basketball games and read more books with our youngest son. However, my most ambitious one is what you’re reading.

I’m venturing into what I’ll call the great digital divide – known otherwise as social media on the Internet and the Blogosphere! I say venture but it’ll probably be more of an adventure – like anything new and mysterious!

As a professional architect, builder and broker in the residential housing market on the North Shore of Chicago my goal with this type of newsletter will be to help homeowners understand many things that are important for their homes, but often understood better by those of us in the design and building business.

We’ll refer to this as the “Home Hammer” publication. A Hammer helps you put things together and it helps take them apart. That’s what we’ll be looking to do – helping to put more knowledge about homes into your hands while also taking the time to pick things apart, just like a hammer! It’ll also be fun and entertaining.

Subject matter will vary from time to time but this general goal of helping homeowners will be a constant theme throughout. We’ll deliver with good and honest intentions without hidden marketing themes. While the subjects will be directed towards homeowners many architects and builders alike will find the material not only helpful, but they’ll hopefully learn more practical ways in which to connect and better understand their clientele.

As an architect, I do not like to write – and like many architects, I’m very good at run on sentences even when I know I want to keep things INFORMATIVE and short – that said, I will be focusing on just that – short and sweet comments, ideas and messages. Time is short, I want to help you understand the main points and move on with your life.

Hope this first one hit the Hammer Home!
